JOB DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Director of Equipment – Football reports directly to the Director of Equipment and is responsible for the ordering of apparel, managing and tracking all equipment for football, and ensuring all logistics pertaining to football equipment is met with the highest level of detail.

Vanderbilt University’s Athletics Department prepares student-athletes to become leaders and champions by placing the highest values on integrity, character, sportsmanship, and victory. Vanderbilt is a charter member of the Southeastern Conference and is the conference’s only private school. The university fields 17 varsity teams, 15 of which compete in the Southeastern Conference.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Manage and track the football equipment budget.
  2. Work in direct collaboration with Head Football Equipment Manager for all tasks of overlap within the football equipment room
  3. Develop schedules of student workers to ensure coverage for all football events including lift sessions, practices, optional workouts, recruiting, and summer camps.
  4. Perform the ordering for all football apparel, including the ordering of Nike products current and future, protective equipment, and various equipment needed supplies
    1. Be able to maintain relationships with external vendors
    2. Distribute and label all outgoing apparel for football
  5. Prepare and pack all student-athlete equipment for games
  6. Coordinate logistics for away games and events with football operations staff
  7. Attend football staff meetings related to travel and logistics
  8. Assist with football practices and coordinate either the offensive or defensive side of the ball
  9. Administer the fitting, cleaning, and tracking of safety equipment
  10. Accountable for the oversight of football related laundry
  11. Lead and teach the Equipment Assistant for Football and student managers
  12. Coordinate tasks with student managers to complete needs within the equipment room
  13. All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Prior experience with a Division I or professional sports equipment room is necessary.
  • High level of organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities is necessary.
  • Knowledge of NCAA and SEC rules and regulations are preferred.

Additionally, individuals receiving athletically related income or benefits from a source outside the institution (e.g., income from endorsement or consultation contracts with apparel companies, equipment manufacturers, television and radio programs; income from ownership, control or management of a foundation, organization, or other entities; etc.) must report such earnings (other than cash or cash equivalents if the total amount received is $600 or less) to the chancellor on an annual basis.
