Position Focus:
Direct the overall management and vision of brand management and the equipment services area to support Yale varsity programs and its student-athletes.
Essential Duties:
1. Develop, communicate, and oversee the implementation of all equipment and apparel purchasing policies and procedures. Responsible for all final decisions regarding specific team uniform, equipment, and apparel. 2. Provide guidance and strategic vision for all contracts and agreements including apparel negotiation and department-wide contracts. Manage vendor relations and ensure accurate and timely payments. 3. Manage overall equipment services budget as well as specific team equipment budgets. 4. Negotiate and manage equipment and machine service agreements. 5. Supervise, hire, train, and evaluate equipment staff members 6. Direct equipment, supply, and apparel purchases to ensure all teams are appropriately equipped throughout the year. Ensure inventory is sufficient to meet growth and demands of current and projected rosters. 7. Ensure all appropriate safety and sanitization procedures are followed. 8. Ensure all equipment and apparel complies with applicable University trademarks, as well as ECAC, NCAA and Ivy League rules and regulations. Ensure compliance with all licensing rules. 9. Travel with football and available during contests to repair and adjust all equipment. May travel with other teams as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Demonstrated knowledge and ability in equipment management of college athletics level or equivalent setting. Strong understanding of all college sports and their respective equipment needs. Understanding of managing an apparel contract.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Proven ability to recognize proper safety protocol for facilities and equipment as they pertain to the equipment room, team facilities, and student-athlete equipment.
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Proven track record of personnel supervision.
Required Skill/Ability 4:
Demonstrated knowledge and ability fitting equipment, uniforms and helmets.
Required Skill/Ability 5:
Ability to manage within a defined budget. Familiarity with commercial size laundry facilities, including ozone machine.
