KUSSI is a non-profit affiliate of Kutztown University. The Assistant Athletic Equipment Manager is an employee of this non-profit organization, however this position works within the Athletic Department of the University.
Kutztown University sponsors twenty-two varsity sports and competes in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) as an NCAA Division II member. The Assistant Athletic Equipment Manager will be responsible for supporting the philosophy, goals, and mission of the Intercollegiate Athletics program as well as adherence to departmental, University, Conference and NCAA policies and procedures.
ASSISTANT ATHLETIC EQUIPMENT MANAGER
Position: Assistant Athletic Equipment Manager
Job Description:
The Assistant Equipment Manager directly supports the Athletic Equipment Manager. The position requires assistance with equipment fitting, equipment repair, game day preparation and troubleshooting, inventory control, and laundry services for the Athletic Department.
Core Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with the purchase, maintenance, care, repair, sizing/fitting, issuance and cleaning of athletic equipment for all University intercollegiate varsity sport programs.
- Distribution and maintenance of equipment, preparation and delivery of practice and competition gear (to game and practice sites).
- Ensures NCAA compliance with respect to athletic equipment and apparel.
- Assist with laundry services for all Kutztown University intercollegiate varsity teams and athletic staff.
- Assist with the pre-game preparation and tear down of competition venues for home athletic events, in coordination with Athletic administration.
- Assist with operational issues that may arise during home athletic events.
- Assist with keeping records, accessing resource materials, maintaining NCAA regulations, and communicating with administrators and coaching staff.
- Assist in the coordination of work orders, required scheduling via the Facilities work order system to accommodate set-ups and athletic field needs.
- Assist with the maintenance of inventory tracking systems. Oversee the accounting of unreturned, damaged, or unusable equipment, and prepare documentation for invoicing the student athlete in accordance with established protocol.
- Assist with supervision of work study students.
- Attends Kutztown University Athletic Department staff meetings as required.
- Meets and interacts regularly with Athletic Department administrators, coaches, staff, students and other campus groups as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Equipment Manager and/or the Athletic Director.
Requirements:
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
– Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
– Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others in a team environment.
– Dedicated to both men’s and women’s sports with a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
– Strong work ethic in additional exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills.
– Willingness to gain certification by Athletic Equipment Manager Association (AEMA) upon employment.
– Requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
– Requires valid driver’s license.
– Must be willing to work flexible/irregular hours dependent on the sport season and various athletic/campus events, including evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight team travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
– Knowledge of NCCA Division II rules and regulations as they pertain to safety, athletic equipment and fields.
– Athletic equipment, facilities administration, and/or laundry services experience.
– Mechanical aptitude and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 – $20.00 per hour
