Assistant Director for Athletic Equipment, Operations, and Facilities–Gettysburg College

Gettysburg College, in historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, is seeking an Assistant Director for Athletic Equipment, Operations and Facilities. The College seeks candidates who have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues and community members. Gettysburg is an undergraduate liberal arts and sciences college, which enrolls approximately 2,600 primarily residential students. The College is seeking a dynamic and innovative individual who has a strong collaborative and student-focused background to serve in this position.

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide exceptional leadership, organization, administration in three primary areas, including equipment, game operations and facilities. The successful candidate will:

• assist in managing the athletic equipment and apparel contract;
• organize and oversee the distribution and collection of equipment;
• Ensure adequate inventory levels are properly maintained for all teams and student-athletes;
• repair and maintain equipment/uniforms as needed;
• develop and manage the process for laundry services for athletic teams, including scheduling times and managing the maintenance of laundry equipment;
Game Operations:
• formulate and administer policies for game management and operations;
• assure competition areas are set up and ready for play, including scoreboard, sound system, and other related equipment for in/outdoor sporting events;
• coordinate locker room assignments for visiting teams and officials
• assist in the coordination of hosting Centennial Conference and NCAA championships when applicable, and other campus events when assigned.
• oversee and schedule the usage and maintenance of campus athletic facilities, and the operations of home athletic events
• conduct regular inspections of athletics facilities, refer all maintenance issues, make recommendations on facilities repairs and upgrades, and act as a liaison to the Facility Services Department;
• serve on the campus-wide Safety Committee and others as needed.
• serve on the administrative leadership team;
• additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Campus Recreation.

• a bachelor’s degree is preferred;
• a background in athletic game operations, equipment room, and/or athletic facilities and at least three years of experience working with a collegiate or professional program is preferred;
• certification with the Athletic Equipment Managers Association (AEMA) certification is preferred, and the individual may work toward certification upon being hired.

This position is a 12-month, full-time, administrative appointment reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for internal operations. Salary is commensurate with experience and complemented by an excellent benefits package.
