The Assistant Director of Equipment Operations provides specific and specialized equipment support to assigned sport programs. Handles all purchasing, receiving, issuing, returns, maintenance, and repairs of equipment for assigned sports. Is required to know and uphold University, Department, and State of Illinois policies and procedures surrounding equipment purchases and acquisition. For assigned sport programs, assists coaches in the development and monitoring of the equipment portion of the overall sport budget.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- AEMA (Athletic Equipment Manager’s Association) Certification (at least within 1 year of hire)
- Working knowledge of repairing and maintaining athletic equipment & apparel.
- Ability to perform budgeting, purchasing, and inventory.
- Good interaction and communication skills, both oral and written
- Managerial capabilities
Work Hours
Core work hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., nights and weekends frequently required
Functional Expectations
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

2. Remain at a workstation for extended periods.
3. Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.
4. Ability to occasionally lift heavy objects.

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score.
