Assistant Equipment Manager–Grand Canyon University

Grand Canyon University’s Athletic Department is seeking a full time Equipment Manager.  This position is responsible for daily operations of a NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics equipment program which includes procurement, inventory, maintenance and disbursement of equipment to teams and departments.

Responsibilities:

Oversees and participates in the daily operation of athletic equipment room.

Maintains an accurate athletic inventory control using the designated inventory management. system and adheres to NCAA, Conference and institutional guidelines and policies.

Responsible for the distribution and collection of athletic equipment, uniforms and supplies.

Responds to requests from coaches for equipment/uniform needs; procures after athletic management approval.

Responsible for maintaining and cleaning (including laundry facility management) of equipment, uniforms and supplies.

Sizes athletes for uniforms; ensures adequate fit for uniforms and any equipment which is sized.

Oversees daily laundering of player loops, coach’s loops, uniforms and towels.

Follows maintenance guidelines for equipment and conducts regular audits to ensure all used athletic equipment is in ready state; sends out equipment for repair and reconditioning following approved budgeting guidelines.

Assist in preparation of equipment, playing areas, and locker rooms for practices and games

Maintains effective relationships with equipment vendors.

Adheres to the principles set forth by the National Collegiate Athletic Association, affiliated conferences and Grand Canyon University.

Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience in operations/equipment management.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in handling role which requires organizing and planning logistics, e.g., scheduling resources, inventory, etc. and other administrative related tasks related to the essential functions.

Must be able to pass pre-employment background check

Ability to travel with teams for away games if needed.

Ability to work weekend and evening hours frequently.

Basic knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and ability to interpret and adhere in daily operational practices.

Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
