Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations, the Director of Equipment will aid in the development of a comprehensive Facilities, Operations and Equipment Management program for Portland State Athletics. They will play the lead role in the planning and execution of all activities of the equipment room. This position will work closely with PSU Coaches to ensure collaboration on all aspects of gear orders, distribution and collection. The Director will be a service-oriented professional and assist in all aspects of game management and operations across 15 varsity sports at Portland State.

The candidate will have excellent communication skills, and collaborate frequently with a variety of university and departmental stakeholders. The successful candidate will also be able to accept and respond positively to direction, and complete job duties independently, on-time and with precision. The Director should have a working knowledge and understanding of all NCAA rules and regulations. This position involves traveling and at times long hours with heavy lifting.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent relevant experience.Minimum three years of collegiate equipment & facility/game operation experience.Demonstrated knowledge and experience with inventory systems and technology.Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.High level of computer literacy, including experience using Excel spreadsheets to manipulate data.Must be able to work well independently and to manage, train and motivate others.Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills.Demonstrated experience with supervision of part-time employees (students included).Ability to work with the public, and possess conflict resolution skills.Problem solving and strategic thinking skills.Ability to prioritize, identify critical issues and work towards results.Ability to work with multiple organizations and vendors proactively and professionally.Working knowledge of NCAA and conference rules and regulations with a personal commitment to operate within those rules is required.
Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in Sports Management or closely related field.

Work Days/Hours
Total Compensation Range & Benefits StatementThe starting annual salary rate for this position will be between $38,196 and $44,412. PSU’s excellent benefits package includes 95% premium paid healthcare; a generous retirement and vacation package; and reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse or dependent at any of the Oregon Public Universities.
