Position Focus:

Supporting intercollegiate equipment operations for a Division 1 Program, issue and maintain all athletic equipment and uniforms to approximately 800 student athletes including daily practice gear and team uniforms for all home and away contests. Maintain, prepare and distribute athletic equipment for designated sports and ensure equipment safety standards for all protective equipment on a regular basis. Size all football helmets and shoulder pads according to regulated standards. Collect, launder, and distribute daily practice apparel and towels. Assist in practice set up and breakdown.
Receive apparel and equipment packages and distribute when necessary. Sharpen and repair hockey skates and repair hockey equipment. Travel with designated sports teams as necessary and assist with travel and logistical arrangements.
Daily contact with coaches of sports to ensure all equipment needs are satisfied and provide superior customer service to coaching and administrative staff. Assist with Smilow Field House operations, dressing room assignments for visiting teams, and safety and security of building and its users. Launder uniforms and towels. Enforce procedural rules and regulations.
Prepare all equipment for storage and conduct inventory at the close of each season at Payne Whitney Gymnasium, Smilow Field House and Ingalls Rink. Clean, repair and inventory all gear by athlete. Maintain logs and records of all athletic gear and prepares billings for stolen or lost equipment. Monitor compliance with schedules. Oversee and instruct student support staff. Open and close facility. Inspect and maintain the general condition of facilities. Perform light cleaning and minor repairs. Maintain records and complete financial and administrative forms. May be reassigned to other department facilities such as the Gym and Ingalls Rink.

Essential Duties

1. Enforces procedural rules and regulations. Monitors personal safety of athletic facility users. 2. Maintains logs and records of membership and activities. Schedules use of facility and equipment. Monitors compliance with schedules. Oversees and instructs support staff. 3. Maintains security of facility and equipment. Opens and closes facility ensuring that users have left the premises. Inspects and maintains the general condition of facilities. 4. Performs light cleaning and minor repairs. 5. Completes financial and administrative forms. Operates, maintains and dispenses specialized equipment, tools, and vehicles. 6. Performs additional functions incidental to athletic attendant activities.

Required Education and Experience

Two years of related work experience and a high school level education; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Demonstrated knowledge of athletic apparel and the specifications required for specific college athletes. Demonstrated knowledge of intercollegiate athletic compliance regulations set forth by the NCAA. Proven knowledge of intercollegiate athletic equipment operations.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Intermediate ability with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Superior customer service. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work in multi-task, demanding environment.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Ability to comprehend and apply helmet fitting (NOCSAE) standards. Ability to work a flexible schedule based on operational needs and travel to away contests.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Prior experience as a student-athlete. Experience ordering from apparel vendors through B2B websites.
