This position reports directly to the Director of Equipment and is responsible for all equipment aspects for Vanderbilt University Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams.
About the Work Unit
Vanderbilt University’s Athletics Department prepares student-athletes to become leaders and champions by placing the highest values on integrity, character, sportsmanship, and victory. Vanderbilt is a charter member of the Southeastern Conference and is the conference’s only private school. The university fields 16 varsity teams, 14 of which compete in the Southeastern Conference.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Execute all daily equipment needs directly related to Men’s and Women’s basketball staff, student-athletes, and schedule
- Order, organize, and distribute all Nike equipment for both basketball teams
- Coordinate practice setup for both teams
- Ensure coverage and laundry services for all basketball games
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all basketball equipment spaces including equipment room, laundry room, both locker rooms, and storage areas
- Distribute and organize all apparel for basketball
- Administer the fitting, cleaning, and tracking of all apparel for basketball
- Prepare the basketball programs for gameday as it pertains to all aspects of equipment for student-athletes, coaches, and staff
- Required to work all home basketball related events for both Men’s and Women’s Basketball
- Coordinate with student managers the completion of tasks as assigned by each team’s Head Coach and/or equipment liaison
- Aid the Director and Associate Director of Equipment with other sports outside of basketball season as requested
- Other duties as assigned by both Men’s and Women’s Basketballs staff and the Director of Equipment
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree is necessary.
- Prior experience with a Division I and/or professional sports equipment room is necessary.
- High level of organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities is necessary.
- Knowledge of NCAA and SEC rules and regulations are preferred.
