University of North Carolina Olympic Sports Assistant Equipment Manager for Field Hockey, Gymnastics, Fencing, Softball, and Rowing

Assist the Equipment Room in the daily duties of purchasing, maintaining, and/or distributing equipment used in Olympic Sports. The Assistant Equipment Manager will assist in the proper fitting of protective equipment and must be skilled in the field of equipment management to ensure that the student-athletes are properly protected. Assistant Equipment Manager will help maintain an inventory for all equipment and will work in tandem and with the guidance of the Equipment Manager in making decisions on purchases. They will serve as the primary contact and handle the equipment needs of Field Hockey, Gymnastics, Fencing, Softball, and Rowing. This position will also assist in the supervision of Federal Work Study student employees.
Directly related experience and responsibility in handling logistical operation for athletic team’s equipment, practice and game day equipment set up and break down, as well as experience in daily laundry/uniform duties. Demonstrated abilities to provide customer service to student athletes, coaches, visiting team personnel, referees, officials, and special events. Familiarity with ACC, and NCAA guidelines. Keen attention to detail. Ability to multi-task. Demonstrated abilities to provide customer service to student athletes, coaches, visiting team personnel, referees, officials, and special events. Ability to work nights and weekends to meet sport equipment requirements and needs. Flexibility to travel with team during sport season. Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills as this position has extensive contact with the Athletic Department administrators, coaches, student athletes, visiting team personnel, vendors, and the general public. Familiarity with or work knowledge of Olympic Sports program terminology and athletic specific information for specific sport apparel and supplies preferred.
