The William Paterson University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation
is an integral part of the University’s overall mission to provide its students with a
comprehensive educational experience, one that stresses the importance of academic,
personal, emotional, social and physical development. As a part of the University’s
Division of Student Development the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has long
been a source of pride for the entire campus community, thanks to the Pioneers’
outstanding achievements on and off the competitive fields of play. Currently sponsoring
13 NCAA Division III teams (baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, field hockey,
football, men’s golf, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, men’s and women’s swimming
and diving, women’s tennis, women’s volleyball), William Paterson is a member of the
New Jersey Athletic Conference, one of the most competitive leagues in the nation. At

Job Summary
The Equipment and Event Operations Graduate Assistant position is responsible for the
maintenance and care of varsity equipment, oversight of the varsity equipment room
operations, gameday and special event operations, and management student staff. The
position reports to the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Athletics and Recreation.
Description
 Collaborate with all coaches regarding equipment needs and facility setups
 Maintain inventory of athletic equipment, including uniforms, protective gear,
laundry supplies, and other training equipment
 Coordinate the setup and teardown of athletic events, ensuring everything is in
place and game-ready.
 Serve as event manager for home athletic contests and outside rental events
 Regularly update inventory records and conduct physical counts to ensure
accuracy.
 Assist with laundry service for practice gear and game uniforms
 Recruit, train, and schedule all student to work gameday events and outside
rental events
 Maintain a supply of spare equipment items on standby to address common
issues that may arise.
 Prepare and pack equipment for transportation to away games.
 Maintain cleanliness and organization in the equipment room, ensuring efficient
storage and accessibility of gear.

 Attend weekly operations meetings to review upcoming athletic events and
discuss equipment and staffing needs.
 Provide guidance and support to staff responsible for team laundry to ensure
proper handling and utilization of laundry supplies.
 Maintain the athletic department’s John Deere Gators.
 Offer technical support and troubleshooting assistance for equipment-related
issues.
 Coordinate repairs and equipment servicing with internal or external vendors.
 Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of equipment orders.
 Inspect equipment to ensure that all necessary gear is prepared and in proper
working order and provide in-game adjustments as requested
 Communicate and collaborate with a variety of individuals, staff, coaches,
administrators, and various offices on campus for student development and
student support initiatives
 Demonstrable commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles
 Supervise student staff in office and during events/practices
 Position requires working nights and weekends
 Compliance with all rules and regulations of the NCAA, William Paterson
University, and New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC)
 Additional responsibilities as assigned
 Perform other related work as needed.
Required Qualifications
 Bachelor degree
 Must be accepted into a full-time William Paterson graduate program
 Demonstrably detail-oriented
 Clear leadership and supervisory abilities
 Ability to work independently
 Ability to work as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
 Athletic Equipment Manager’s Association (AEMA) certification
 Experience and knowledge working with football
Compensation
 Tuition waiver
 $6,000 stipend per year
 Two-year appointment
