Player Operations: Equipment Manager

$80,000 – $100,000 / year

Direct Report to:  AEMA President

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Executive Director is responsible for leading the AEMA’s growth and expansion initiatives while overseeing all aspects of the organization’s operations, including revenue generation, member services, strategic partnerships, and daily management of association. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Organizational Leadership and Management 
  • Provides day-to-day leadership and management of AEMA operations which includes interaction and communication with members and potential members of the association
  • Responsible for planning and execution of the annual AEMA National Convention
  • Recruits, leads, and develops an internship program that can assist in some of the duties of the Executive Office
  • Oversees the AEMA staff.  Provide an annual review and submits to board of directors.  Growth opportunity through increasing revenue to expand AEMA staff.
  • Possesses authority to conduct AEMA business with board approval

2. Board Relations and Strategic Planning 

  • Build rapport and support to develop an active board of directors, which includes the President, Vice President, Associate Executive Director, Certifications Steering Committee Chair, and District Directors
  • Serves as ex-officio member on all committees, while working toward a knowledge of all aspects of the equipment management profession
  • Creates a strategic plan and initiatives in collaboration with the AEMA President with board approval

3. Revenue Generation and Financial Management 

  • Exhibits sound fiscal responsibility with all AEMA funds
  • Identifies and develops new revenue streams
  • Drives growth in sponsorship opportunities
  • Expands membership base
  • Resolves all billing disputes and discrepancies
  • Enhances meeting and event revenue
  • Compose annual budget for board and membership approval. Perform monthly review of AEMA accounts and monitoring income and expenditure
  • Provide end of year financials, in conjunction with operations manager and accounting firm, to distribute to board of directors

4. Communications and Brand Management 

  • Administrates all aspects of internal and external communications, in conjunction with the external communications chair
  • Oversees website content and management
  • Strengthens brand presence and recognition
  • Handles organization-wide communications

 5. Industry Relations and Representation 

  • Serves as primary representative of the AEMA
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships and advocates for the AEMA throughout the sports industry across different sports and competition levels (i.e:  Vendors. NCAA, NOCSAE, and other governing boards and associations within athletics).
  • Attends industry meetings and conventions on behalf of the AEMA

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial management, strategies, and best practices
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication
  • Successful track record of strategic leadership and organizational stewardship 
  • 5-10 years working experience in athletics industry preferred

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Position Type: Full-Time, 100% Remote
  • Base Salary: $80,000 – $100,000
  • Benefits Package:
    • Paid Time Off, including AEMA scheduled holidays

Please note that any time off is unpaid until after the first 90 days.

Vacation/Sick Time

Paid Time Off awards increase on the following length of service schedule, with new accrual periods starting each year on February 1:

0 to 3 years – 2 weeks of PTO

3 to 5 years – 3 weeks of PTO

5 or more years – 4 weeks of PTO

  • 10% Retirement Match – after 6 months of employment
  • Performance-Based Annual Bonus Opportunity based on revenue growth
