Salary/Grade: Full-Time w/Benefits
Target hiring range for this position will be between $45,000-$55,000
per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s
education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as
internal equity and alignment with market data.
Job Summary:
The Head Football Equipment Manager reports to the Associate
Athletic Director for Sport & Facility Services and is responsible for all
aspects of apparel and equipment needs for football and assigned
Olympic Sport. This position will work and collaborate with five other
Sport & Facility Services employees on objectives and goals specific
to Sport & Facility Services, and will play a vital role in the health,
safety, and well-being of our student athletes and event management.
This position, in conjunction with the Associate Athletic Director for
Sport & Facility Services has daily interaction with the football
program. This position will directly cover all football apparel and
equipment, the football locker room, football related employees,
football student managers, and deliveries. This position will assist
with meeting the needs of the Miami Athletic Fund and fundraising
groups for the football program. Duties and responsibilities subject to
change based on department needs.

evenings, weekends and holidays as required. *

Specific Responsibilities:
Equipment Management
Adhere to and execute the Miami University’s apparel and
equipment contract (Currently adidas) and other apparel and
equipment vendors.
Independently responsible for ordering apparel and equipment
from season-to-season and as needed.
Maintain inventory records for the athletic department using
digital inventory software Front Rush/Teamworks
Pack athletic teams for travel to away contests, and coordinate
transportation of apparel and equipment for off-site competitions.
Coordinate laundry service and other equipment related needs
for away competitions, as needed.
Issue, launder and disseminate game, practice, and workout
apparel and uniforms.
Fit, clean and repair equipment in accordance with NOCSAE and
AEMA standards, maintaining records of maintenance and
repair.
Assists with hiring and training student employees.
Determines work assignments and schedules to accommodate
the extended hours and complex scheduling of collegiate
practices and sporting events.
Ensure proper logo on all apparel and uniforms in accordance
with Miami University, Mid-American Conference and the NCAA.
Coordination & Administration
Maintain a clean and organized equipment room and ensure
proper storage of athletic equipment used in and around the
facility.
Collaborate with Associate Athletic Director of Football for Sport
& Facility Services ensure all needs of the Miami University
Football program are met.
Work with Miami University Athletics Business office to ensure
proper and timely payment of invoices.
Hire, supervise and educate interns and student managers on
policies and procedures relative to issuing and maintaining
apparel and equipment.
Report and log student manager hours according to Miami
University student employment policies.
Communication & Outreach
Foster, build and maintain relationships with vendors and
sporting goods companies.
Provide world-class experience and high-level of service to all
student athletes, coaches, staff, alumni and donors.
Work with coaches and director of operations of assigned sports
to ensure all equipment needs are met.
Other
Responsible for adhering to all Department and University
policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws
and interpretations of the Mid-American Conference and the
NCAA.
Responsible for adhering to all Department and University
continuing education initiatives and required certifications and
trainings.
Assist in the receipt and distribution of package deliveries from
FedEx, UPS, etc.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study at an
accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s or higher
degree.
Minimum 2 years’ experience working in an Intercollegiate
Athletics equipment room.
Athletic Equipment Managers Association (AEMA) certification
preferred or certifiable within one year of hire.
Knowledge and prior experience with industrial washing and
drying machines as well as proper techniques to remove stains
from garments, apparel and uniforms.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
Prior knowledge of Inventory Tracking program.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
General/basic knowledge on how to sew and repair garments.
General/basic knowledge on the use of a heat press.
Possess ability to communicate effectively one-to-one, in small
groups and in public speaking contexts; writes precise, well-
organized emails, letters and proposals while using appropriate
vocabulary and grammar.
Effectively performs duties and responsibilities; displays attention
to detail; supports organizational policies; anticipates
demands/pressures of assignments and adjusts accordingly.
Ability to work independently; complete goals, tasks, and
projects on time.
Ability to think critically to find creative solutions to whatever
challenge may be presented.
Valid driver’s license
A thorough working knowledge of issuing, fitting, cleaning, and
maintaining athletic equipment as put forward by the AEMA
preferred.
Ability to work cooperatively with others and effectively interact
with diverse populations.
Ability to establish engaging relationships within and across
racialized and other marginalized communities
