The Rice University Equipment Department is looking for up to 2 graduate assistants for 2026. This position will primarily help support the football equipment room but will have plenty of opportunities to assist with Olympic sports as well. The ideal candidate would be able to be in Houston to start sometime in May or June. Typically, this role would last 2 academic years (Fall 2026 – Spring 2028) to coincide with completion of a graduate degree program. The position comes with a tuition waiver for an approved academic program and a monthly stipend for expenses.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Must be accepted into a graduate program at Rice University
· Bachelor’s Degree required
· Must be willing to relocate to Houston, TX
· Prior experience in a collegiate equipment room is preferred
· Experience with inventory management software (Teamworks, SportSoft, HelmetTracker) is a plus
· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
· Must be able to work an unconventional schedule, including long hours, early mornings, nights, weekends, and some holidays
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Support football team in all aspects of training, practice, and competition, including travel to road games
· Work closely with Assistant AD of Equipment and Assistant Equipment Manager on projects and day-to-day activities
· Assist Olympic sports equipment room with laundry and inventory
· Leadership of student manager staff and student interns
· Receive, inventory, issue, maintain, and clean all equipment and apparel
· Assist with updating our inventory management software
· Support all aspects of the upcoming transition in apparel providers from Adidas to Nike through GameOne
