The University of Colorado (CU) encourages applications for the Assistant Equipment Manager for Football Operations! The purpose of this job is to assist the Director of Football equipment operations for the Athletics Department’s football program and the daily organization and execution of equipment requirements while supporting and operating within any of the 3 equipment rooms within the Athletics Department. Work includes equipment management, issuance, storage, transportation, and maintaining equipment inventory as assigned.

This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Administration:

  • Maintain equipment program in accordance with NCAA and Big12 specifications and regulations. 
  • Assist in determining athletic equipment and apparel needs to ensure a nationally competitive program. 
  • Organize information for preparation of University purchasing procedures. 
  • Purchasing responsibilities for Champions Center Equipment Room. 
  • Effectively maintain purchasing paperwork to completion of the purchasing process. 
  • Maintain a professional rapport with departmental, student, and outside personnel. 
  • Directly responsible for all equipment aspects of specific athletic programs.

Inventory Management:

  • Assist in and coordinate the maintenance of an effective inventory system. 
  • Oversee receiving and inventory process of incoming athletic equipment and apparel for assigned sports. 
  • Be responsible for the issue and retrieval process to student athletes and staff of assigned sports. 
  • Ensure the quality of equipment ordered and received.

Event Management:

  • Coordinate the preparation of events with respect to athletic equipment and apparel. 
  • Responsible to ensure that the needs of visiting teams, as well as officials, are met at the highest standard for assigned sports. 
  • Responsible for scheduling of event coverage for home and away contests for assigned sports. 
  • Attend assigned sport practices when required. 

Daily Operation:

  • Responsible to stay on top of general equipment information: i.e. techniques, products, materials, etc. 
  • Be available to handle the needs of student athletes and staff during reasonable hours, which includes some nights and weekends. 
  • Be responsible for the daily laundry needs for assigned sports. 
  • Maintain all laundry machines; handle ordering of all laundry products. 
  • Maintain locker control system for the locker rooms of assigned sports. 
  • Oversee the preparation of equipment needs for daily practice sessions and workouts. 
  • Maintain communication with responsible parties for both practice and game fields.

What We Can Offer

  • The salary range is $58,000 – $60,000 annually.
  • Additional Compensation Details:
    • Relocation is available within department guidelines.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s Degree. One year of football equipment experience at the FBS collegiate or professional level. Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute. 
  • Experience fitting football equipment to NOCSAE standards.
  • Must become AEMA Certified within 1 year of employment.

  • Knowledge of all NCAA rules as they apply to athletic apparel and equipment.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and control systems. 
  • Knowledge of football equipment needs, including technical knowledge of high-end athletic telecommunications systems. 
  • Proven inventory management and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Candidate must demonstrate a dedication to diversity, equity and inclusion.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • Two years experience in athletic equipment field within NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics or professional sports.
  • Experience with inventory management programs.
  • AEMA Certified.
