Equipment Intern—University of Utah

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as an Equipment
Intern. The Equipment Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our
athletic department, focusing on beach and swim sports. This is an excellent opportunity for someone
looking to take the next step in their career in equipment management and gain valuable experience
in a collegiate athletic setting.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as the main point of contact for beach and swim teams, ensuring their equipment need
are met promptly and efficiently.
• Aid full-time staff members in managing equipment for various sports programs.
• Handle laundry duties, ensuring that uniforms and equipment are clean and ready for use.
• Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies, coordinating with vendors as needed to
replenish stock.
• Assist with game day set up, ensuring that all necessary equipment is in place for practices and
competitions.
• Pack and organize equipment for road trips, ensuring that teams have everything they need
while traveling.
• Help manage student workers, delegating tasks and providing guidance as needed.
• Work on processing orders, managing budgets, and liaising with vendors to ensure timely
delivery of equipment and supplies.
• Facilitate the logo-ing process for team apparel and equipment, ensuring brand consistency
across all items.
Duration and Compensation:
• This position is for the period from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025.
• The selected candidate will receive a monthly stipend of $2,000 with no additional benefits.
• The position requires a commitment of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with
occasional weekend availability as needed.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant coursework in sports management or a related
field preferred.
• Previous experience in equipment management or athletics administration is desirable.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with coaches, athletes, and vendors.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during peak athletic
seasons.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and inventory
management software.
