Equipment Intern – Job Description

Job Summary

The Equipment Intern’s primary role is to gain hands-on experience within a collegiate athletic equipment room, learning the daily operations and processes that support a football program. This position will assist full-time equipment staff in all aspects of equipment operations, while also helping oversee student managers.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily laundry operations
  • Help set up and break down practice fields
  • Clean, maintain, and repair player equipment
  • Assist position coaches with drills during practice
  • Support daily inventory management and tracking
  • Issue apparel to players, coaches, and staff
  • Maintain overall cleanliness and organization of the equipment room
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Gameday Responsibilities

  • Assist with locker room setup for all competitions
  • Support pre-game drills and on-field prep
  • Help with post-game packing, loading, and transport of equipment
  • Assist with unloading, cleaning, and gameday laundry after competitions

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in equipment management (preferred)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
