(Brooklyn Park, MN) – High School hockey players will have to wear protective neck gear starting next season. The new nationwide high school rule comes after a Hibbing native, Adam Johnson, was killed when an opponent’s hockey skate blade slashed his neck during a pro game in England. The new National Federation of State High School Athletic Associations rule follows a similar rule by USA Hockey for Youth Hockey Associations.
