  • Responsibilities:A(n) Intercollegiate Athletics Equipment Specialist typically –
    1. Responsible for intercollegiate athletic home events and special events. Management includes the preparation and set-up of facilities and equipment for contests and practices.
    2. Assists with or performs routine fitting and maintenance of specific athletic equipment, such as football helmets and shoulder pads.
    3. Responsible for care and laundry services for athletic teams; soaks, spot cleans and/or hand scrubs practice and competition uniforms using specific chemicals and detergents.
    4. Travel as assigned with any team with responsibility for distribution and care of athletic equipment during the trip.
    5. Performs detailed record keeping of equipment and uniforms for student athletes and maintains related inventory to comply with athletic conference and university guidelines.
    6. Maintain lockers/locker rooms; secures equipment, rooms, and contents from unauthorized personnel.
    7. Issuance and retrieval of all equipment to athletic teams for daily practices and events.
    8. Preparation of equipment and supplies for team travel; loads and unloads equipment for transportation to away events as requested.
    9. Responsible to work effectively with student-athlete, staff and visiting teams and to promote good public relations at all times.
    10. Inspects equipment (track, volleyball and tennis net repairs; correct locations of padding on football blocking sleds) and removes from service those found to be defective or unsafe; may perform or secure repairs or replacement of equipment.
  • Required Qualifications:CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER
    1. High school diploma or equivalent.
    2. Three (3) years (36 months) of experience in the repair and maintenance of athletic equipment and uniforms at the high school or college level.
    3. Possession of a valid State of Illinois driver’s license, the class of the license depending on the type of the vehicle(s) to be operated.
  • Starting Salary: $14.00 /Hourly
