William & Mary Equipment Assistant- Football & Baseball
Job Description Summary:
Reporting to the Head Equipment Manager of Athletics, in the Fall, the Equipment Assistant is responsible for assisting in the daily management of the football equipment room, but is focused primarily on helping with the preparation of games and practices. In the spring, the Equipment Assistant will be assistant in spring football and baseball laundry and game day set-up.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Responsible for daily laundering and storage of all practice and game uniforms.
• Supervise and direct student workers assisting the Equipment Staff.
• Assist in maintaining an accurate, up-to-date inventory of all equipment and apparel for all sports working out of Kaplan Arena and the Jimmye Laycock Football Center.
• Packing and unpacking for away games, arranging for transportation of equipment.
• Clean and repair equipment as needed and assist in the upkeep of fields and facilities.
Job Description:
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and two years of driving experience.
- Demonstrated organizational and administrative skills.
- Computer skills, i.e., basic to intermediate skill level in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others in a team environment, including working with the public and interdepartmental personnel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations relative to equipment purchasing, allocation, and retention.
- Basic sewing skills for garment alteration and repair.
- Two years of football student manager experience.
- Ability to drive a 26 ft. box truck.
