Job Description:

Fulfills the mission of Norwich University by assisting the Equipment Manager with the overall administration of the Athletic Equipment Room.

This is a 40 hour per week and 52 weeks per year 1.0 FTE position.

Essential Functions

  1. Assists with the Equipment Manager with the organization and maintenance of varsity teams’ equipment and uniforms to include:
    1. Issuing and collecting equipment
    2. Laundering of practice and game uniforms
    3. Tracking inventories of equipment and uniforms
  2. Assists with the laundry service and assignment of locker rooms for visiting teams.
  3. Assists Equipment Manager with fitting and maintaining helmets and shoulder pads for football, hockey, and lacrosse teams.
  4. Works the sidelines of football home games.
  5. Coordinates with the athletic training staff regarding special equipment needs for student athletes.
  6. Communicates with sport coaches, as assigned by Head Equipment Manager, regarding team needs including equipment, uniforms, practice gear, and team apparel orders.

  1. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive or private information.
  2. Communicates with employees, students, and others in a respectful and clear manner.
  3. Serves on University committees, councils, workgroups, or other designated bodies as assigned.
  4. Achieves, maintains proficiency in, and utilizes computers, telephones, and other job-related equipment, including related systems and software.
  5. Speaks, reads, and writes in English.
  6. Communicates by telephone, email, letter, in person, or other means or device.
  7. Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of related experience preferred
  • Knowledge of laundry chemicals preferred
  • Knowledge of equipment and uniform maintenance and repairs preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of all NCAA, NOCSAE, University and conference rules and regulations involving athletic equipment operations preferred
  • AEMA (Athletic Equipment Managers Association) certification is preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook), Banner, and Argos preferred
  • Able to sit, squat, reach, push, pull, and manipulate related equipment; lift 50 pounds; travel outdoors to various parts of the campus
  • Work some evening or weekend hours

Environmental Conditions

  • Indoor work and outdoor work in all weather conditions
  • Moderate level of exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes.
